Christmas Leftovers: A Short Film

I guess the trick is to capture that essence (not sure that is the word) of film making and being able to sustain it over a longer period of time and with real actors and grown up personalities getting in your way on a film set.

What may have been easy to get when "ordering" your little sisters around the house will prove a fucking nightmare when you have adults there offering their own opinions and working their own personalities into the mix..

But I guess that is a massive part of being a director. Being able to handle that whole aspect of film making while still at your core keeping your idea or vision fresh and fun just like when you're playing about at home and making great little short films like this.

Great short film, man.

There is something honest and direct about it. Like you?ve covered the conventions of the thriller genre and made something totally pure because of it. You're benefited immeasurably from sticking to the rules. You could say you?ve crafted a perfect pop song -- as this is perfect genre material.

Another cool thing is you?ve delivered a story with a beginning, middle and an end.

Most amateur shorts (and most funded ones, too) ramble aimlessly and pass themselves off as layered or deep without ever actually saying anything. Nice images underpinning smoke and mirrors.

But although rough around the edges, your short (considering where it?s coming from) is a bull?s-eye, imo.
